Story
The story follows Sarbanan and his family, who are trying to live a peaceful life after leaving their troubled past behind.
Earlier, Sarbanan was involved in small-time scams and fraudulent activities in Chennai. But he eventually decides to leave that life behind and start fresh.
He moves from Chennai to Karnataka and begins running a small hotel, hoping to live a normal life with his family.
But the movie’s central idea is simple: you can leave your past, but your past doesn’t always leave you.
Sarbanan’s old connections and criminal history eventually catch up with him. Things become much more serious when his son is kidnapped.
Now Sarbanan has no choice but to return to the world he tried so hard to escape from.
To save his son, he and his old team have to plan one final, massive con.
And this isn’t supposed to be an ordinary robbery. The plan is designed to be something so big and memorable that nobody would forget it.
The movie then revolves around how they prepare for this operation, execute their plan and try to save Sarbanan’s son.
A Fun Heist Element
The biggest strength of the movie for me is the planning behind the con.
The way the characters come up with their strategy and execute it is entertaining. There are several moments where you wonder how they are going to pull off the plan.
The movie keeps introducing different steps in the operation, which gives the story a good sense of momentum.
It isn’t an extremely complicated crime thriller where you need to remember dozens of characters and plot points. Instead, it keeps the concept relatively accessible and focuses more on entertainment.
That’s probably why the movie works well as a casual family watch.
Comedy Works Well
The comedy is another major positive.
The movie doesn’t completely depend on forced comedy. A lot of the humour comes from the situations and interactions between the characters.
