Kannada action-crime superhero movie that tries to combine a police drama with a masked vigilante story. After watching the movie, I feel it works quite well as a commercial action entertainer, especially because of its action sequences, lead actor’s screen presence, villain introduction, cinematography and background score. The screenplay has a few weaknesses, some portions feel stretched, and there are certain logical loopholes that could have been avoided with better writing. Story and Plot
The story revolves around a sincere and disciplined police officer who becomes increasingly frustrated with the corruption, crime and violence around him.
He initially believes in doing his duty within the system. However, as he encounters more criminals and corrupt people, he begins to understand that the existing system is not always enough to deliver justice.
This eventually leads to the creation of a masked vigilante.
The basic idea is quite simple: a police officer decides to operate outside the law and becomes a mysterious masked character who takes on criminals and corrupt people.
The movie then develops this idea through crime, revenge, action and personal relationships.
I liked the basic concept because the transformation from a police officer into a masked vigilante gives the protagonist two different identities.
On one side, we have the responsible police officer.
On the other side, we have Bagheera, the mysterious and aggressive vigilante.
That contrast gives the character a good commercial appeal.
Screenplay and Writing
The screenplay is one of the mixed aspects of the movie.
There are some very good portions, especially when the film is concentrating on the protagonist and his transformation.
The movie also does a good job of introducing important characters and establishing the crime world.
However, there are places where the writing feels stretched.
Some scenes could have been shortened, while certain character arcs could have been explored in greater detail.
The basic superhero concept has plenty of potential, but the screenplay doesn’t always take full advantage of it.
There are also a few situations where the logic may not completely convince you.

For me, the biggest attraction of the movie is the masked vigilante concept.

Since the character’s face is partially covered, the actor has to depend heavily on body language and physical performance.
That aspect works quite well.
The masked character looks intimidating, especially during the action sequences.
The film clearly wants Bagheera to feel like a larger-than-life commercial superhero, and for the most part, it succeeds.
Sriimurali’s Performance
Sriimurali is one of the biggest strengths of the film.
He has a strong screen presence and carries the movie effectively.
As the police officer, his performance is relatively grounded.
But once he becomes the masked vigilante, his body language and physicality change.
That difference is important because the audience needs to feel that there is something different about Bagheera.
Sriimurali manages to create that change.
The action sequences also benefit from his physical presence.
He looks convincing during the fight scenes and manages to sell the hero-elevation moments.
Because the character wears a mask for several important portions, facial expressions are naturally limited.
Therefore, the actor’s eyes, movements and body language become much more important.
Sriimurali handles those aspects effectively.
For me, his screen presence is one of the biggest reasons the film works as a commercial entertainer.
Garuda Ram as the Villain
Garuda Ram gets a very strong introduction.
His entry has the kind of buildup that immediately creates curiosity.
The character has a threatening personality and strong physical presence.

I particularly liked the way the film builds up his character.
A superhero movie needs a villain who can provide a proper challenge to the hero, and Garuda Ram brings that physical intimidation to the film.

Rukmini Vasanth’s Performance
Rukmini Vasanth is good in her role.

But if your expectation is a stylish action entertainer with a masked vigilante, strong fights, a powerful villain and good production values, Bagheera delivers a decent experience.
The movie has enough mass moments to keep you engaged.
It may not be a perfect superhero film, but it is definitely an entertaining attempt.
